Dr. Thompson-Mcbryde has 10+ years of experience in STEM education. A former high school teacher, she is passionate about the purposeful and user-driven design of technologies, curricula, and informal programs for learning.

In her design-based research, she engages in participatory methods that actively involve teachers, students, and community partners working together to develop environments for STEM learning.

Currently, she researches the design of experiences that simplify an individual's everyday interactions with data—specifically, the development of resources that train and build data skills for societal participation.

She earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science from Northwestern University.  M.S. in Mathematics, and B.S. in Computer Science from Fayetteville State University.
